Confirm pet travel policies, carrier requirements, and certificate validity Periods. Although the health certificate says it is valid for 30 days, some honor it for 3 days. Airlines only honor the certificate for 3 days. Some airlines also prohibit pets from traveling

COMMON INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Health Certificate - Official USDA-accredited veterinary examination
  • Microchip (ISO) - International standard identification required by most countries
  • Rabies Vaccination - Current rabies vaccine with proper timing
  • Rabies Titer Testing - Blood test proving immunity levels for some destinations
  • Parasitic Treatment - Deworming and flea/tick prevention as required
  • Additional Vaccinations - Destination-specific immunization requirements

US INTERSTATE TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Interstate Health Certificate - Required for travel within US and Puerto Rico
  • Current Vaccinations - Up-to-date rabies and core vaccines
  • Physical Examination - Recent veterinary health assessment
  • Certificate Validity - Valid for 30 days from issue date

Interstate Travel

When traveling with a pet within the 50 United States and Puerto Rico, you are only required to obtain an interstate health certificate from our office. Remember, the health certificate is only good for 30 days. Don’t forget to contact your airline regarding the items listed in #1 above in the international section, as they apply to domestic travel as well.
